Dr. Sungkowo M, : Uplift Researching Culture Indonesia National Education Department as the host of this event have prepared as good as possible to welcome the International Conference of Young Scientist (ICYS) 2010. This event is one of the attempts to uplift researching culture in High School. Indonesian delegate’s researches are the results of selections in regency level all over Indonesia. Furthermore, this event also aims to popularize Indonesia as one of the countries that has strong potentials in science and math researches, and also to introduce Indonesian culture to youths from all over the world. As explained by the, Dr. Sungkowo M.
Through this event, the prospects on scientific researches in the future will continue to develop and improve. It is because the teenager’s interest to research has started from school until International level. Researching culture hopefully will trigger and motivate other students to love researching and literature. Therefore, we hope that scientific research like this will assimilate in our culture and will be useful for society. Before competing in international forum, Indonesian students joined OPSI, a national scientific research competition, on November 2009. Those who are selected as the best, then progress to mentoring process and quarantine for a period of time to prepare for ICYS 2010
“In ICYS, other than ability to understand their own researches, participantas are also required to have good English to present their research. Therefore selections are also made to select students who are competent in speaking English to delegate Indonesia. We hope that Indonesia will again achieve domination in the competition like the previous year, moreover we have a big opportunity as the host,” Dr. Sungkowo hoped. Rinda/Garlan/Ian |
