A Long Journey and Medal Target Long flights are indeed tiring. Michael Kern of team Germany explained that he and is teams traveled for 16 hours, with a transit to Kuala Lumpur before heading to Bali. When they arrive, they’re a little shocked by the change of climate. Although tired, they enjoyed the beautiful nature that they found attractive. For ICYS, they have not sentenced a specific target, and choose to enjoy the competition itself. Germany has 2 teams from 3 differing cities.
Team Croatia traveled for a few hours from their country. Just as Team Germany, they transit at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They also commented about Bali on their beautiful beach, and the hot climate. This team had prepared a national selection in their country in biology research area of study. In facing ICYS, they have no specific rival as they see all other countries as equal. For team Hungary, 15 hours of flight is indeed tiring. The tire increases as they feel the hot temperature of Bali. But they are sure to get over it, especially when they can see the beautiful beaches
A long flight is also experienced by team Georgia, as they travelled for almost 1 day long, with a transit at Istanbul and Jakarta before arriving at Bali. This team attempted to win ICYS competition. |

Arrival of Participants Sweat drops soaked the participants that arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. The international arrival terminal is filled by the hectic people. There are hotel workers showing signs of the hotel to pick up tourists, there are also travel agents offering tour guides in Bali. The arrival of tourists and businessman alike makes time goes on quickly. These hectic tourists and hotel works had become a unique view. Here is where the meeting of different people from all around the world is going to undergo.
Bali is indeed the target of international tourist for years, the island with the title Island of Gods have various traditional arts that are well-known by international world. Artists take advantage of the beautiful culture and landscape, as Julia Roberts, a famous actress from Hollywood, America visited Bali for the filming of Eat Pray and Love. The beauty of Bali is undoubted. Even though the hot temperature that exceeds 30o C. This is where team Potensi welcome the ICYS participants. |

Indonesia Host of ICYS 2010 Indonesia becomes the first Asian country to organize International Conference of Young Scientists (ICYS) that will be held in Bali. The event that is found by Eotvos Lorand University Budapest, Hungaria and Belarusian State University Minks, Belarus, was first time held in 1994. After successfully winning the overall champion in the 16th ICYS in Pszczyna, Poland 2009, this time Indonesia generally and the National Ministry of Education specifically will be trusted to organize the 17th ICYS in Bali, 12th-17th April 2010. 19 countries will participate in this event. 13 countries are participants. They are Belarus, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Indonesia, Netherlands, Poland, Rumania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. And 6 others are observers. They are Iran, UK, Thailand, Laos, Nigeria and Cambodia.

ICYS (International Conference of Young Scientists) is a special type of competition in physics, mathematics, computer science and ecology for 14-18 year-old secondary school students. The aim of the founders with organizing such a new type of competition was to acquaint secondary school students with the methods of scientific research.
ICYS is a prestigious international event. Secondary school students from all over the world gather in this competition to present their research. Not only to compete and winning, but the important thing is building friendship and exchange cultures with other participants.
